A Himalayan valley park outside Srinagar, the last refuge of the hangul, Kashmir's endemic stag.

Why this place matters

Primary refuge for the hangul (Kashmir stag) and an important watershed forest for Srinagar, combining conservation of an endemic deer with human-wildlife conflict mitigation initiatives.

Autumn coincides with the hangul rut in the lower meadows, offering vocalisations and displays; spring and summer bring lush vegetation and pheasant activity.
