The Mara teaches you a humbling thing quickly: finding animals was never the hard part. Lions are lying by the track. Giraffes stand up out of the fog. A hyena clan works a kill in the first grey light while the vehicles are still leaving camp. Within a day, the question stops being where is everything and becomes the real one, what do I do with all this?
That's the question this workshop exists for. Five days, three of them full dawn-to-dusk days deep in the reserve, built around sitting with subjects instead of collecting them. We stay with one pride long enough for the yawn, the shake, the cub catching up to its mother. We stay out in the rain, because rain on a mane in green grass is a better photograph than a dry lion in flat noon light. And every evening the laptops open and the day's frames get the same patience the field did.
The grassland does the finding. We do the seeing.
